Mission Statement

With the rapid and immense changes brought about by the tide of globalization, Japan confronts a historic turning point in its history. This is no less true for Japanese universities which must display intellectual leadership and evolve as an international organization. Since the time it was established, The University of Tokyo has played a central role as Japan’s leading university through its world-class scholarship. In response to the world’s rapid globalization, however, the University faces the challenge of keeping pace by elevating its international presence. Further, the burden for meeting these challenges should fall across all levels of the University. To this end, our laboratory has strived to cooperate with other scientists from all over the world as it sought to carry-out internationally-recognized scientific research. In a visible example of international cooperation by the University, our laboratory has contributed to the establishment of the Max-Planck-The University of Tokyo Center for Integrative Inflammology (http://mputc.com/about/index.html). We welcome all scientists, from any country, religion, gender or ethnicity, whose research and interests involve the field of inflammation, immunity and cancer and desires to engage in scientific interactions and collaborations worldwide.
